Fresh & Clean Office

I’ve been sitting at my computer a lot lately. Fielding emails, wedding inquiries, facebooking (that can often/sometimes be classified as work related) and all the clutter was getting me anxious. To improve productivity, I’m proud to present to you my cleaned up office space. There’s also some new items from this past weekend’s trip to Ikea. Actually it was 2 trips to Ikea…. because as I’m sure you are all familiar the place can be overwhelming, even if you’ve properly fueled up at the cafe. Once you’re in the home stretch, selecting the aisles & bins from the scribbled notes you made with that silly golf pencil…. well sometimes you don’t go home with what you wanted. No fear! An early sunday morning recovery trip fixes everything!

So let me tour you around my corner of the Benph household office (*Benph is shorthand for Ben & Steph, for future reference.)

1. Our growing collection of Ikea Expedit furniture in the birch finish.

2. One of the many sets of digital photo archives in DVD binders. So so many gigs of information!!

3. Storage boxes that makes “Out of sight, Out of mind” so easy. I went with a color palette of green and white.

4. My yellow mug of tea. When it’s not Diet Coke, the caffeinated beverage of choice is tea.

4 1/2. My iphone (syncing at that moment). My world crashes down around me without it.

5. Magazines. PDN, Rangefinder, American Photo, Professional Photographer, Communication Arts, Martha Stewart Wedding, etc…. As I’ve said before, “I’m more news stand than novel; glossy spreads and quick captions are more my thing.”

6. The new “INBOX”, let’s see how well I adopt this new practice….

7. My Hallmark Institution of Photography graduation certificate plaque.

8. A souvenir from working at Adventure Outfitters in Hadley, MA. It’s a Patagonia display, a foam core mounted image of a guy cross country skiing.

9. The frame was a gift from three of my favorite ’09 clients. Joe, Brian & their adorable dog Quiche. They went to Disney for their honeymoon and brought back this mickey mouse inspired wood frame. Displaying their picture in it was the only option. A good reminder of great clients/friends.

10. Another frame with some Benph* pics.

11. An ebay win! A great vintage  Kodak Dualflex camera with flash. Does it work? Not sure. But it looks great on my shelf.

12. I loved this set of prints by Atmostheory .

13. My first Valentine’s Day present to Ben. One of my topographic map wrapped frames with a collage of pictures of his Grandma Sawin.

14. Boxes, stationary & office supplies.

15. Promo postcards and such.

16. A Steph Stevens original! A hand woven memo board. My Mom sends me 4×6 prints and sewn photo cards of pretty much every outing we have. All those picture have got to go somewhere. Also collecting  some of my road race numbers on there too!! Next race, a 10K – 2.7.10!!

17. A clean floor! Happy to show it off because this past summer in the midst of shooting weddings and working fulltime it didn’t look so clean.

17.5 My green desk chair. It happens to match the green boxes I picked out at Ikea but that was just a happy coincidence. I love it! It’s Ben’s grandfathers. He has the companion desk on the other side of the room.

18. Ben’s favorite reading chair. In the middle of the day the room fills with sunlight and that’s a good place to hang out…. you know if you’re a book reader….
